What calls are considered 911 transfers?
Calls received about crimes in progress or situations causing an immediate hazard are considered emergencies and should be transferred to
911 immediately.
Examples include:
  • Crime involving guns or other weapons/gunshots fired or active shooters
  • Fire (in progress)
  • Car accidents (in progress)
  • Report of someone being killed
  • A complaint involving violence such as a domestic dispute, fights, assault, etc.
  • Wellness Checks
  • Hazardous conditions such as building or bridge collapse, toxic smells, illegal heaters, etc.
  • A car with unknown Apple Airtags placed on the body
  • Noise Complaint (in progress)
  • Drug activity such as sale and use (in progress)
  • A car or cars blocking an egress like a driveway or a garage or doorway.
You Should Know:
Text to 911 is now available in Philadelphia. 
  • Step 1:  Create a new text message or conversation
  • Step 2:  Type 911 in the "To" or "Recipient" field
  • Step 3:  Describe your location: Include the address and municipality (township or borough)
  • Step 4:  Describe the situation: Include what type of emergency help is needed
  • Step 5:  Send the text message
